Ms. Manoja Weerasekara

Profile

Ms. Manoja Weerasekara, currently work as a senior lecturer attached to Faculty of Computing. She’s a sun certified Java programmer and professional member of the Computer Society of Sri Lanka.

She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Technology at Uva Wellassa University with received Vice chancellor’s award for the best performance in Computer Science & Technology at the convocation. She also completed her Master’s degree in Business Administration at University of Peradeniya and received highest GPA in her batch. Currently she’s following her doctoral qualification attached to Department of Computer and System Science at the Stockholm University, Sweden.

Prior to joining NSBM, she worked at Uva Wellassa University as an assistant lecturer in Computer Science attached to Department of Computer Science and Technology. She also served as a software engineer attached to Virtusa (Pvt) LTD.

She has successfully completed staff development program conducted by Internal Quality Assurance Center, NSBM and also participated at the International Business Summer School organized by the Plymouth University in 2015. She received certificate of achievement in Outbound training on Group Dynamics and Personality Development.

Her academic teaching responsibilities are primarily linked to modules covering database systems, software engineering, programming, data structures and algorithms and information systems. Her research interests are on ICT for development, ICT supported mental health interventions, online communities, fostering empowerment in online communities and data driven development. She also has experience in conducting research methodology sessions and guiding student in their final year research projects in Information Systems discipline. She has passion for improving the student experience through innovative teaching approaches and research into the development of complementary technologies for stress management.
