Mr. Gishan Abhayagunarathna unfolded his prowess as a lecturer at a very young age. Despite being a neophyte in academia, he has manifestly demonstrated his ability to untangle complex subject matters smoothly.

His achievements during the university career are a true reflection of his pedagogical adroitness. He was able to explore the dynamics of international higher education by completing his master’s degree in the United Kingdom. Thus, he obtained his MSc. in Professional Accountancy with a distinction at the University of Dundee, Scotland. He also won the Professional Accountancy Prize for the Best Student on the program and ACCA price for the Best Professional Accountancy Project. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Finance (Special) with a first-class at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. He won the Gold Medal for the Highest Academic Excellence by maintaining an overall GPA value of 3.98 out of 4.00.

Mr. Abhayagunarathna is the Node Leader for the degree; BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance offered by the University of Plymouth, United Kingdom. He predominantly conducts lectures in Financial Accounting, Business Valuation, Risk Management, and Cost Management. He is also the Mister-in-Charge of the Dancing Club of NSBM.

Mr. Abhayagunarathna also possesses industry exposure as a Financial Analyst in one of the audit giants in Sri Lanka. Blending experience in the corporate sector with academic scenarios makes his teaching exclusive and inimitable. His research interests broadly lie in the areas of Accounting Automation/Digitalization, Accounting Standardization/Harmonization, Cryptocurrencies, Capital Structure, and Financial Management.
