Keeping in line with NSBM’s vision of producing globally employable graduates, NSBM’s The International Center for Tourism and Hospitality (ICTH) Center was declared open today under the distinguished patronage of Dr. DIETMAR DOERING A German hotelier and the Founder Chairman and CEO of the Aquarius Resorts Group of Hotels in Sri Lanka. He was the former Senior Lecturer at Business College Hilden, Germany.
The International Center for Tourism and Hospitality (ICTH) another infant center that requires our earnest nurturing, has been added to the NSBM family today, with the guidance of Mr. Baratha Dodankotuwa (Head of Quality assurance Unit at NSBM). The total project was implemented by Mr. Chiranjeewa Atapattu (Head of Marketing ) and Mr. Lasitha De Silva (Lecturer: School of Business). This was formed in response to a need to redefine and refocus the activities of the pre-existing Tourism, hospitality, and events interest group at NSBM and beyond. The Centre seeks to develop and foster collaborative and multidisciplinary industrial and scholarly activity to contribute towards the strengthening of management capability, creativity, and innovation within the tourism and hospitality sector in Sri Lanka.
The featured guest talk was conducted By Prof. Suranga Silva (Director Centre for Economic Research & Industrial Policy Analysis (CERIPA) University of Colombo). A live cookery demonstration was conducted by chef Dimuthu Kumarasinghe, who was the only chef in the world to have won 9 Gold medals in individual events at the Culinary Olympics held in 2004 and 2006, currently attached as Vice President Consultant of Aitken Spence. The event was graced by Mr. Chaminda Rathnayaka (Deputy Vice-Chancellor of NSBM Green University Town), Dean of School of Business Ms. Thilini de Silva and the top management team, Academics and non- academic staff of the institution.
