Falling in line with the NSBM’s constant thrive on exchanging knowledge and expertise through industry collaborations, University concluded its latest project jointly with IFS Sri Lanka to benefit the undergraduates of computing degree programmes. The project comprised two main events, including the IFS global senior leadership engagement session with undergraduates and the strategic partnership discussion within leadership teams. They were hosted by the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering under the guidance of the Head of the Department, Ms.Pavithra Subashini.
The undergraduate session, which saw the active participation of over 200 computing undergraduates, was conducted by Mr. Martin Gunnarsson, Senior Vice President – Business Applications, with Stephen Jeffs-Watts, Senior Vice President – Service Applications, on the topic of ” How Great Products Build Great Companies”. The event was graced by the Dean of NSBM Faculty of Computing, Dr. Rasika Ranaweera, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, Ms.Pavithra Subashini, along with the NSBM academic staff, IFS senior leadership team, HR team and Engineering team.
The second event of the programme, the strategic partnership discussion within leadership teams of NSBM and IFS, was carried out with a focus on several areas: strengthening IFS and NSBM partnership, Global employment opportunities for NSBM Computing Graduates, IFS-NSBM strategic action plan for continuous improvement on developing global IT graduates.
Representing NSBM, the discussion was participated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Dean of Faculty of Business, Ms.Thilini De Silva, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Dr Chandana Perera, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, Ms.Pavithra Subashini and Mr. Mohomad Rushdi, Manager-NFORCE.
Whilst IFS was represented by the Senior leadership members of IFS R&D team; Mr. Martin Gunnarsson, Senior Vice President – Business Applications, Mr. Stephen Jeffs-Watts, Senior Vice President – Service Applications, Mr. Ranil Rajapakse, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Nuwan Perera, Vice President – Software Operations, Mr. Heshan Gunasekera, Director Software Engineering and Mr. Kasun Ariyadasa, Director Software Engineering.
